Carcano Rifles Serial Numbers3/31/2021
Preservation forum, please no altered military surplus rifles or discussions on altering in this forum.Dont know if its war time or post war, its pretty much void of any markings.
Its stamped 7.92, has a serial on the barrel and the same serial only electro penciled the receiver for some reason. Same serial is stamped on the stock with what appears to be a V filled in with white paint. The grooves on it are pretty shallow but its shiny and the rifling is still squared off. Looks to have been done stateside and could easily be removed with tin snips. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience. The metal band is actually riveted with a stamped serial number. Dont hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft. It is possible it could handle it but I would have to do research on it before I tried it. There also seems to be some question on who actually built these. I havent seen one with it but it is in the back of the receiver area I think. I will have to go see if the last one I saw here is still around. They notched it, as the story goes, so you could use a modified clip so it wasnt a single shot. From what I have read, and you may get a different story, is that the collectors that have this rifle shoot it and the ones that dont tell horror stories about it The makers seems to be of question also but there are so many models that were converted I would tend to lean towards last ditch weapons for the germans story. If it was an after the war thing I think one model would have been singled out.maybe. There could be rebarreled versions and some that were redone, which the latter seems to be the most prevalent. Carcano Rifles S Cracked At TheI have seen 2 m38 (ts maybe) models here and one had the second stock reinforce bolt but was still cracked at the lower wrist area. It has been a while since I visited that shop it was in cause it is a distance from me but I may go see if it is still there just for kicks to compare. The Rail Roads and some trucking companies used to use a band that had a serial number on it to seal containers after they were locked shut. Idea was someone could open the container while in transit but only the shipper and the receiver knew the serial number on the band so if it was brokenreplaced you would know someone had been into the container.
